The Uses of the Qirāt in Islamic Law

Abstract

Among the terms known before Islam that underwent a transformation in meaning after its advent is the term qirāt. This paper examines the newly introduced meanings of this term, how it is applied, and the contexts in which jurists have employed it in Islamic jurisprudence. Additionally, it provides an overview of its contemporary uses in modern transactions.
