Abstract

Undoubtedly, medicine is a great blessing from Allah Almighty upon humanity as a whole. It is incumbent upon individuals to utilize it in ways that please Allah, serving humankind and promoting benefits that align with the noble Sharia. Muslim individuals must adhere to the cases where it is permissible - according to Islamic law - to use medicine, especially in the field of cosmetic surgery, which has become a predominant concern in a large segment of society today. This is particularly evident after the contemporary medical revolution, unprecedented since the creation of life on earth by Allah. Unfortunately, some Muslims, both men and women, have blindly followed the obsession that has affected non-Muslims in undergoing cosmetic procedures without investigating whether these actions are permissible or forbidden. This pursuit is often driven by satisfying one's ego and flaunting oneself before others, disregarding the consequences of altering the creation of Allah, which is prohibited. The responsibility lies on Muslim doctors to refrain from performing prohibited procedures according to Islamic law. They should limit themselves to necessary operations that save lives, preserve appearance, correct deformities, as in the case of mini gastric bypass surgeries, the focus of this research. Through this procedure, the causes and diversity leading to these operations are explored, along with preventive measures against obesity, which impacts human health. Recommendations and general advice are provided to guide and educate the community in maintaining a healthy environment free from life's hardships. This research delves into the perspectives of ancient and contemporary jurists on cosmetic surgeries, discussing the boundaries of permissibility and prohibition, all grounded in undisputed Islamic evidence. After presenting the evidence, a balanced and Sharia-compliant conclusion is drawn, followed by general recommendations and advice for the community, be it religious or social, aiming for a dignified life within the boundaries of Sharia. Success and guidance come from Allah.
