Abstract

This research is a study of the Hadith of the Prophet ( peace be upon him): "Allah was, and there was nothing other than Him..." focusing on the important doctrinal matters it encompasses. These include the issue of the eternity (Qidam) of Allah, His everlasting nature, the coming into existence of the world after it did not exist, the sequence of events in existence both past and future, and the precedence of certain creatures over others in creation. The study also highlights the significant terms and other narrations related to this Hadith to understand its doctrinal implications.
