Abstract

In this research, God willing, we will explore the value of puns as an integral and original structure in literature. Because it penetrates into the depth of the text by enriching the significance, and this will lead to the widening of the text spaces and enrich its literature; We will address these hypotheses and try to convince the reader through a poetic model from the ancient heritage. The sample was the "Diwan of Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani (d. 852 AH)", as it carried a wide range of innovated styles - and here is the pun - that did not stop at the level of external decoration; Rather, it extended to the formation of the in-depth literary image that needs contemplation and reflection, so that the reader can explore its value, and the research consists of a theoretical description of the limits of the pun within its historical context, and within the contemporary rhetorical vision as well, with an analysis of poetic choices.
